Dr. Vincent Carrao is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. He began his undergraduate education at New York University where he received a Bachelors of Arts Degree. He continued his education at Columbia University’s School of Dental and Oral Surgery where he obtained a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1993. His desire to become a surgeon led to his acceptance into Columbia Presbyterian’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program, where as part of a 6-year training program the university’s College of Physicians and Surgeons bestowed upon him a medical degree in 1966. Dr. Carrao is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon who practices the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery including office based facial cosmetic and major reconstructive surgery. He is well known for his academic and medical accomplishments and is part of the residency training program at Columbia University where he provides teaching, supervision and expertise over many of the major cases handled by the hospital.He is also well known for his humanitarian efforts. For the past 11 years, Dr. Carrao has been an integral part of “Healing the Children” medical missions, a volunteer position of medical professionals who travel to poverty stricken areas of Central and South America to treat children with facial deformities free of charge.
