Condolences – Wargo

Deepest Sympathy for Mount Arlington Police Department Police Officer Joseph S. Wargo Jr.  End Of Watch: 10-16-11.  Officer Joseph Wargo, 38, was killed when struck by an impaired motorist.  At 0012, Officer Wargo was driving on inter-state 80 during his scheduled patrol when an out-of-control driver driving at a high rate of speed in the opposite direction careened across the median and slammed into Officer Wargo’s cruiser.   The immense impact pushed the cruiser off the roadway, heavily damaging the front end. The Crown Vic was found in the wooded area with our Officer Wargo trapped.   He was flown to the hospital in critical condition.   At 0125, Police Officer Joseph Wargo succumbed to his injuries. The killer was taken into custody. Prelimi-nary findings revealed the driver may have been under the influ-ence of controlled dangerous substance.   Our sincere condolences go out to the Wargo family, as well as to the Mount Arlington Police Department and community.
