Italian American Police Society of New Jersey

President’s Message January 2012

Dear Member,
As you read this magazine, the holidays will be behind us and new year will have arrived. Although this past year found New Jersey’s law enforcement officers facing many difficult challenges such as pension change, layoffs and a rise in crime, we begin 2012 united as brothers and sisters in blue ready to fight hard to make New Jersey’s streets safe. We gath-ered as a community too many times to bid farewell to fallen he-roes that made the ultimate sacrifice last year. As we begin this year, let’s remember those heroes that will live forever in our hearts. On March 31st, our Society will host its sig-nature event the Annual Gala Benefit Dinner Dance. This event is attended by our members, as well as the most prominent Italian Americans and leaders of government and law enforcement. This event will recog-nize several Italian Americans for out-standing professional and humanitarian accomplishments. In addition, we will honor Italian American police officers that placed their lives in danger to protect our state. I hope that all members make this an event that they attend to help us celebrate our pride. Let’s make 2012 the year that you at-tend a meeting or event to get more involved. I thank each and every one of you for allowing me to serve as your president.

Happy New Year
William Schievella President
